SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED TOBOGGAN FROM THE REGION

In 2019, MACH launched sled production alongside ski production together with Solothurn industrial designer Yves Aeschbacher. MACH produces sustainably with 14 Swiss suppliers from the region.

MACH is the first manufacturer in the world to use a construction from ski production for the production of the toboggan. This consists of a sustainably pressed beech wood core.

Most of the manual labour is carried out at the social foundation Wendepunkt and the Murghof workshop, which supports the professional and social integration of a wide range of people.

The toboggans impress with their comfort, manoeuvrability and lightness and guarantee maximum fun in all snow conditions thanks to their wide plastic runners. The innovative, new construction and modern design make the Swiss sledge from MACH a unique sledge.

DRIVING FUN AND SAFETY AT MACH SLEDGE

From beginners to experts – fun and safety are at the centre of the MACH sledge. The runners made of wear-resistant ski surfaces significantly improve the gliding properties of the sledge. This leads to higher speeds, especially on flat sections – more sledging, less walking.

The "TAN HAWK", "BLACK HAWK", "WHITE HAWK" and "FUR HAWK" toboggans are designed as single-seaters for safety reasons. This makes them agile and easy to steer precisely. The steering method is also unique: a mix of traditional "Davos" and manoeuvrable tobogganing. The seat is ergonomically and comfortably positioned for the rider and absorbs shocks from unevenness.

UNIQUE PRODUCTION IN SWITZERLAND

A great deal of Swiss craftsmanship goes into the MACH sledges. The construction with pressed, rather than bent, wood comes from ski production and is unique in the world. The core consists of glued beech from the wood processing experts Becker and Brackel. Among other things, the company is known for its stable ski cores, which are also used in all MACH SKI skis.

The metal connecting parts come from the family business W.&O. Geiser AG from Roggwil. A large proportion of the manual labour is later carried out at the social foundation Wendepunkt and the Murghof workshop. This supports the professional and social integration of a wide range of people. For example, the seat covers are made of polyester fabric in the Murghof canvas workshop. Milling and painting work, as well as all final assembly, is Swiss handwork and is carried out by the Wendepunkt Foundation.

With a length of 1.15 metres, the BLACK HAWK weighs just 6.8 kilograms. The sledges can be lined up or stacked on top of each other to save space, making them ideal for specialist shops or mountain railways. To create a true one-off for yourself or your loved ones, the seat cover can also be individually customised.

MAKE WHITE HAWK

The sledge «WHITE HAWK» from MACH! A unique, limited edition sledge for the winter WHITE HAWK + Limited Edition + Special paint finish + White Beauty! Limited to 99 sledges, the WHITE HAWK comes in an elegant light-coloured design. The various wooden frame parts are coated by hand with a white stain and then covered with a weatherproof 2-component lacquer. The canvas seat is waterproof, thermo-welded and well padded. The plastic runners are fitted to the frame of the sledge and are easy to replace.

SWISS FUR SEATS

The new MACH "WILD HAWK" and "FUR HAWK" sleds are unique thanks to their real fur seats.

The skins for the "WILD HAWK" come from local hunts. The animals are shot by local hunters. The focus here is on the sustainable regulation of game populations and every animal shot is fully utilised. The skins are used for sledge seats and the meat is served as a delicacy. "Instead of throwing the hides away, we want to put them to good use," emphasises Flurina Hammer, a hunter from Kammersrohr. One animal skin is used per sledge seat, and the sledges are available with fur from deer, wild boar or chamois.

The seat of the "FUR HAWK" is covered with exquisite cowhides. The skins come from Bernhard Neuenschwander, who is the fifth generation to run one of the last two fur tanneries in Switzerland in Oberdiessbach. "My cattle skins are 100 per cent by-products of the meat industry," says Neuenschwander. Four to seven sled seats are made from one cattle hide. Each sled is unique due to the pattern of the hide and bears the name of the respective animal.

CUSTOMISED SLEDGES

At MACH, the sledges can now be customised online. The design can be chosen from natural lacquered, white or black stained beech wood, or from the wood combination beech - teak.

The plastic runners are available as a basic runner or a white racing runner with better gliding properties.

A seat cover made of polyester fabric is fitted as standard. To create a truly unique item for yourself or your loved ones, the sled can be fitted with a seat cover made of real fur.
